Tui Park Kindergarten is really living up to its name.

On Friday, 12 large paintings of tui were installed around the kindergarten grounds and path.

The bright displays were painted by Tawa College year 10 art students, after the kindergarten approached art department head Marie Ross with the idea.

Kindergarten head teacher Jane Northmore said the quality of work was outstanding.

‘‘It’s just making a connection with the community and having community involvement,’’ she said.

The kindergarten was originally going to have only 10 paintings, but after seeing the 20 ideas supplied, teachers chose 12.

‘‘ They are absolutely stunning. The children have just been blown away by the paintings. They are inspiring.’’
