Cannons Creek Youth Charitable Trust has benefited from a Nikau Foundation grant.

The trust’s head coach, Latu Talu, and his team have made tremendous progress since opening a gym in Cannons Creek last year and impressed the Nikau Foundation.

Nikau is funding manager for the Tindall Foundation in the Wellington region, and has already had excellent feedback on a grant made to Naenae Youth Charitable Trust.

Encouraged by what has gone on in Naenae, the Tindall Foundation was happy to support the Cannons Creek trust, which sprang out of the Naenae project.

Nikau Foundation also supported an initiative of Wellington Free Ambulance called Heartbeat.

This aims to make the Wellington region the most likely place in New Zealand to survive a sudden cardiac arrest, by teaching thousands of children how to do CPR and how to use a defibrillator.

This month Nikau introduced the two grant recipients to each other, to develop the skills of Porirua youngsters further and provide training with a defibrillator.
