Speed camera a money-maker
Janette Piper makes a spirited defence of the presence of a speed camera in Whitford Brown Ave (March 17).
In the course of her letter she points out that since the speed limit along the road was reduced to 50kmh in 2008, the number of accidents has declined drastically.
If that is the case, then what was the pressing need to have a speed camera installed there last year? Merely reducing the speed limit had apparently already done the trick.
I agree with Kapi-Mana News and with letter-writers who have claimed the speed camera is no more than revenue gathering. That seems undeniable in this case.
The accident rate had already declined. The speed camera was unnecessary, unless the main aim
