Pulmonary group prospering
The Porirua Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Group is undergoing a revival.
The group started in 1989, but faded in 2010. However, it was restarted at a new venue in 2011 and and has built up to a membership of more than 20.
Carol George, a respiratory nurse specialist, gave sound advice on all aspects of coping with breathlessness.
Group co-ordinator Genevieve Young reminded those attending about the flu injection that is arriving in April, later than usual.
There is a wide variety of talent in the group, including two artists, who have run successful raffles. Another is planned.
The group meets at the Work and Income community room, 4 Lydney Place, on the first Wednesday of the month, from 1.30pm till 3pm.
