It’s not every day a school principal is happy for her picture to be used as target practice, but Shirley Porteous will be an exception on Saturday.

The Greenacres School principal is one of several staff whose faces will be featured on paintball targets during the Linden school’s annual gala on March 28.

The gala will be held at the school, in Raroa Tce. It is a fundraiser and the school is looking to raise at least $15,000 to buy electronic devices for some classrooms. Devices such as laptops, Chromebooks and iPads gave children equal learning opportunities, Porteous said.

‘‘We want technology to be a part of the curriculum all the time – not an added extra,’’ she said.

‘‘ It’s about the kids having equal access, too.’’

Planning for the gala has been under way since last October, with many families and local businesses donating items and services.

Those attending will enjoy such activities as classic car rides and paddle boats, plus tasty food.

The gala runs from 11am until 2pm.
