New Zealand football hopefuls aged between 8 and 16 are getting the chance of a lifetime in July with European club AC Milan launching its inaugural New Zealand-based junior camp.

The young footballers will be trained by AC Milan and New Zealand football coaches, will have the chance to impress scout Alessandro Musicco (from the Italian Under-21 team), and could potentially travel to Italy to meet the AC Milan squad.

‘‘The camp will provide young New Zealand footballers with an international training camp experience,’’ said Raffaele Maiorano, AC Milan Junior Camp’s New Zealand project co-ordinator.

Maiorano has been in New Zealand to meet Wellington youngsters and businesses interested in the camps.

Two juniors from the camp will be selected by AC Milan technical staff to travel to Milan, take part in the Intesa Sanpaolo Milan junior camp and meet the AC Milan squad.

AC Milan covers costs for the trip.
