Boring sneakers or sandals were replaced by everything that glittered and shone at the Linden School Fancy Feet parade last Wednesday.

It was the fifth year the school had taken part in the Movin’March initiative, which aims to get schoolchildren walking and biking to school.

Each year Linden School puts on a parade and all 90 children in the school take part by dressing up their shoes.

New entrant teacher Rebecca St Claire headed the parade and made sure the children looked their best. There were pompoms flying, balloons popping and plenty of feathers being stuck on at the last minute.

‘‘It’s to celebrate and encourage children to walk and run school,’’ she said.

St Claire said her favourite shoes for the parade were a pair another teacher made using duct tape and diamantes.

‘‘ They looked amazing and were something out of wearable arts.’’
