Coastal clean a success

Kapi-Mana News - - NEWS -

More than a tonne of waste was collected in the Amazing Coastal Challenge on March 27.

Volunteers cleaned up 48 kilometres of the Porirua coastline. City councillor Anita Baker said the harbour looked stunning after the mammoth cleanup.

‘‘The amount of waste collected shows it’s still a significant problem, and it’s sad that so much of it, like drink bottles, is clearly dumped by individuals,’’ she said.

Careful litter disposal would improve the look and health of the harbour, she said.
