Tawa keep clean sheet

Tawa kept their un­beaten record with a hard­fought 14-10 win over Welling­ton at Hataitai Park in the Swin­dale Shield Welling­ton rugby com­pe­ti­tion on Satur­day.

For Tawa, Jeremiah Fryer scored a try and James So’oialo kicked three penal­ties. Tawa led 11-3 at half­time.

North­ern United went down 26-11 to Pe­tone at the Pe­tone Rec. Pe­tone, who led 12-8 at half­time, scored four tries. Inoke Rasa­bale scored a try for Norths and Jack­son Gar­den-Ba­chop kicked two penal­ties.

Pare­mata Plim­mer­ton’s tough ini­ti­a­tion into the top grade con­tin­ued with a 41-22 de­feat by Up­per Hutt at Ngati­toa Domain.

Up­per Hutt ran in six tries and led 29-5 at the in­ter­val.

Pare­mata Plim­mer­ton fought back in the sec­ond spell. Matthew de Terte, 2, Tane McMillan-Parata and Jonathan Sabo scored tries for the hosts and Tainui Parata landed a con­ver­sion.
