Spicer Forest open after two-year spell

Kapi-Mana News - - NEWS -

Spicer Forest has reopened for walking and cycling.

The main entrances are either via Rangituhi (Porirua), the end of Ohariu Valley Rd, or via Chastudon Place (Tawa).

People may use the Te Araroa Trail and the road through the park, which enters and exits from Ohariu Valley Rd and Chastudon Place in Tawa.

The recreational area has been closed for two years because Meridian Energy was using it as access for the development of Mill Creek Wind Farm.

Tracks are marked with temporary signs and way-finding.

Wellington and Porirua City councils are working to turn the forest into a unique recreational area that will include track access from Tawa, and connections to Porirua and to the wider Outer Green Belt area.

There will be an opportunity for public input into this longer term planning.
