Capital & Coast District Health Board has called for applications from health service users to join a new 10-member advisory council.
VOICE for Consumers – Visibility, Ownership, Involvement, Communication and Engagement – will meet every two months to work with the board as a consumer council on health services in hospital and the community, aiming to give health services users an active role in their development.
Interim board chief executive Debbie Chin said the council’s aim would be to improve the quality, safety, and experience of care provided by the board to almost 900,000 people between the North and South islands.
‘‘We want to know how we can improve the health services – and to do this we need to get the people who use them around the table with us,’’ she said. A diverse range of members was needed to represent the diverse needs of the communities, she said.
