WHAT THE PUBLIC THINKS

Kapi-Mana News - - FRONT PAGE -

The public strongly supported Titahi Bay Lions, after news of Porirua Market’s shift to Waitangirua. Kapi-Mana News posted the announcement on Facebook last week and social media went into overdrive. Some of the reactions: Carol Hemi: ‘‘The only downside is it isn’t central to the township of Porirua.’’ Ron James: ‘‘A market is a market, not some upmarket retail centre. What’s to spruce up?’’ James Harland: ‘‘I say it’s all about money. The council wants more and more. When we started we were paying about $3 per stall. Now it’s going up and up per year.’’ Tracey Lang: ‘‘Needs a spruce up. Nothing wrong with a bit of change.’’ Nigel Brunsdon: ‘‘That’s unfortunate. I hope the move goes well. Closer for east-siders and the westies will have to travel further.’’ Margaret Smith: ‘‘Waitangirua shops are going to love it, and I like the idea of the playground for the kids.’’ Latasha Reynolds: ‘‘I’m down for the change. It will be awesome to have it at the mall. The kids can play while their parents shop. Win-win situation.’’ Peggy Fittes: ‘‘The Lions have done a great job and will continue to.’’
