Music festival at Pataka big hit
A successful demonstration concert was held by school- aged students in the Performing Arts Studio at Pataka on May 28.
For several years, Kapi-Mana Music Teachers have run competitions for their school- aged students to give them the experience of performing in public and to be adjudicated by musicians other than their teachers.
With the establishment of Virtuoso Strings Charitable Trust, a free string programme for students in the Cannons Creek schools, it was time to also encourage these students to perform in public. So this year Kapi-Mana Music Teachers and Virtuoso Strings combined to promote the Kapi-Mana Music Festival.
Virtuoso Strings ran the bowed strings competitions on May 16, and on May 17 and 24 Kapi-Mana Music Teachers ran events.
A demonstration concert was held on May 28. Award winners were: Erana Tamaiva, Jeffrey Passi, Jessica Jenkins, Andrew Cheng, Daniel Sneyd- Utting, Nathan Luapo and Christine Mulitalo.
