CAR PARK SENSOR TRIAL EXTENDED
People who abuse disability parks could be caught more easily with new technology being trialled in Wellington.
Wellington City Council is extending its trial of parking sensors in the central city to include ID cards that are recognised by the sensors, in a move that could make it easier to monitor misuse of mobility parks. The council has set aside $1.4 million to roll out 4000 sensors for city car parks, contingent on the outcome of a $100,000 trial running since February.
That trial was due to end this month, but parking services manager Michelle Riwai said it was now likely to continue until September.
