Bowlers roll up to raise funds for Nepal vic­tims

More than $1850 was raised for vic­tims of the Nepal earth­quake at a bowls event or­gan­ised by the New Zealand Malaysian So­ci­ety.




The so­ci­ety com­bined with the Nepal Friend­ship So­ci­ety and mem­bers of the public to raise funds for the vic­tims of the deadly earth­quakes that struck in April and May.

Or­gan­iser Alvin Loo said ev­ery dol­lar counted to­wards the re­build and was pleased with how much sup­port there was.

‘‘It went very well. There was a very good re­sponse con­sid­er­ing it was mainly tar­geted to so­ci­ety mem­bers, fam­i­lies and friends,’’ Loo said.

The fundraiser was held at Strike Porirua on May 31 and more than 70 bowlers took part.
