Bowlers roll up to raise funds for Nepal victims
More than $1850 was raised for victims of the Nepal earthquake at a bowls event organised by the New Zealand Malaysian Society.
The society combined with the Nepal Friendship Society and members of the public to raise funds for the victims of the deadly earthquakes that struck in April and May.
Organiser Alvin Loo said every dollar counted towards the rebuild and was pleased with how much support there was.
‘‘It went very well. There was a very good response considering it was mainly targeted to society members, families and friends,’’ Loo said.
The fundraiser was held at Strike Porirua on May 31 and more than 70 bowlers took part.
