Tour fol­lows in steps of Te Rau­paraha

A bus tour around Welling­ton’s west coast and ex­plor­ing his­toric sites of in­ter­est of Ngati Toa Ran­gatira has been or­gan­ised as part of Te Papa’s Matariki pro­gramme this year.

The tour will put a spotlight on the Kapiti and Mana ar­eas and its sig­nif­i­cant history, and will al­low peo­ple to walk in the steps of Ngati Toa chiefs, in­clud­ing Te Rau­paraha.

The fo­cus will be about ex­plor­ing the dra­matic history of Ngati Toa Ran­gatira on the ground where it un­folded.

The tour is hap­pen­ing on Satur­day, June 27, and will run from 9am till 1pm. A lunch at Taka­puwahia Marae will fol­low.
