No smoking on beaches

Kapi-Mana News - - OPINION -

I support city councillor Bronwyn Kropp’s call for council policy to make Porirua beaches smokefree.

Support for outdoor smokefree areas is a positive step that our local councils can take to protect the community from second-hand smoke, promote positive health messages and create a cleaner, safer environment.

The majority or our population are non-smokers so a council’s decision to introduce smokefree areas is usually supported by the community and often also by smokers, especially those trying to quit.
