Get ready for Kevin Clark musical treat

Kapi-Mana News - - NEWS -

Kevin Clark and his group plus popular vocalist Fran Barton will present an evening of music with a jazz flavour at Mana Little Theatre on July 11.

All the music is adapted and reinterpreted from the music of Liszt, Brahms, Chopin, Borodin and others.

There are many well known popular songs borrowed from the classics, such as Whiter Shade of Pale, Full Moon and Empty Arms, and All By Myself.

The group will explore a wide range of music from jazz swing to Latin and funk.

Clark has arranged all the music, including instrumental jazz takes on well-known classics, mainly from the Romantic era and the 20th century.

‘‘This is not another attempt at jazz-classical fusion – but merely playing jazz based on classical themes,’’ he said.

Vocalist Fran Barton and pianisttrumpeter-arranger-composer Clark have been working together since the early 1970s in television, radio, live performances at festivals, studio recordings, CDs, restaurants and private and corporate functions.

With Clark and Barton are drummer Lance Philip and bassist Aaron Stewart, two fine rhythm section players.

Kevin Clark and Fran Barton are playing at Mana Little Theatre in July.
