Titahi Bay radio mast ready to come down
The final section of Titahi Bay’s radio mast will be removed in two weeks.
The top 15 metres of the 220-metre tall mast was removed by helicopter before Christmas.
Nearby residents were advised of the work, which involved taking off the top guywires.
Abseil Access, which has been contracted to remove the mast, is planning to complete the work on February 16. That would be weatherdependent, a spokesman from the mast’s owner, Radio New Zealand, told Kapi-Mana News.
The spokesman said helicopter flying time and road closures had been kept to a minimum, and Radio New Zealand was not aware of any complaints from Titahi Bay residents.
