Many Porirua residents will recall The Fource barbershop quartet from Aotea College. Knoxana Leasi, Olivia Samuel, Theadora Esera and Georgina Peniamina made up The Fource, a quartet that embarked on three overseas trips and won a heap of titles on the national stage.
We catch up with the four singers in this week’s Flashback on page 18. One has moved to Australia and the others are living in Wellington, but they have obviously retained their sparkle and joy of singing.
In our sports section, page 60, we tell the heartwarming story of Titahi Bay Athletics Club member Brandy Collins. We tried last week, but didn’t do a very good job because of a glitch in our system. Collins has a Global Learning Disability and generally competes in disabled sport.
But the 16-year-old competed in the Wellington open athletics champs this month and came away with gold and silver in the shot put and discus, a tremendous achievement.
