St Theresa’s School prom­ises fun-filled day

The St Theresa’s School car­ni­val re­turns on Satur­day.

School prin­ci­pal Donna McDon­ald said she was im­pressed by how much the school com­mu­nity got be­hind the event.

‘‘I’m cer­tain it will be a fun­filled day for all and am re­ally ex­cited to be a part of it,’’ she said.

Money raised from the event will go to­wards up­grad­ing IT equip­ment at the school.

A free en­ter­tain­ment pro­gramme will be led by Clube do Choro, a choro band that will add a Brazil­ian jazz vibe.

Younger chil­dren will be spoilt for choice – games in­clude bouncy cas­tles, slides and the chance to get their photo taken with Welling­ton’s very own Iron Man.

Per­for­mances by Frozen’s Elsa and Olaf, and Ra­pun­zel will take place through­out the day. Chil­dren will have a chance to meet and greet the char­ac­ters.

Older chil­dren will be kept en­ter­tained with elec­tric cars, bumper boats, a paintball shoot­ing range and lots of tra­di­tional games, such as money golf and a smash palace.

Am­bu­lance and fire ser­vices will also be on hand to give demon­stra­tions.

The St Theresa’s Car­ni­val of­fers bar­gains, in­clud­ing used books, toys and cloth­ing plus some nifty crafts.

For the sweet-toothed, home­made sweets and freshly baked cakes will be hot favourites. The gar­den stall is also a ma­jor fea­ture.

There will be quick-fire raf­fles all day.
