Johnson takes control of netball group
Kapi Mana Netball Centre will kick off the 2016 season under new leadership and with a focus on developing pathways for players and coaches.
Tracy Johnson, executive director of the Porirua Chamber of Commerce, was elected as president of the centre’s board in March and said she was excited about what was ahead.
Besides Johnson, other new board members are Tia Rameka, Ine Faleafaga, Paul Smith and Erin Collins.
Johnson said the board was looking to providing a well structured competition for all levels of netball.
‘‘Development of netball in Porirua is a priority and a lot of thought is being put into how we can successfully develop pathways for players, coaches, managers and umpires,’’ Johnson said.
She said the move was part of a three to five-year plan focused on the operation of the centre, retaining current players and looking to nurture talent for the future.
‘‘We’re very clear about our role as a board and where Kapi Mana netball needs to be. We want to start with a clean slate heading in the right direction,’’ she said. The season runs from May 7 until September.
