Three Porirua netballers make Central team
Porirua netballers Colleen Faleafaga, Jermaine HowardVallance and Mila ReueluBuchanan have made the Central Zone squad for the national netball league, which started on April 10.
Central’s campaign starts with a match against Northern in Auckland on April 17.
Coach Yvette McCausland- Durie said the Central team had a good balance of experienced players and youth.
The national league has been introduced to provide a level of competition just below the ANZ Championship and higher than the now discarded week-long national championships.
The league will run for 12 weeks and involve five teams (one from each zone) playing a double round robin, home and away, culminating in a grand final on June 26.
Central has a strong record at age-group level and while its league squad is young in years, with ages ranging from 15 to 21, McCausland-Durie said she was confident they would blossom under the heightened awareness of a more performance-based culture.
The Central squad is Sheridan Bignall, Karin Burger, Colleen Faleafaga, Rhiarna Ferris, Jermaine Howard-Vallance, Talia Hullena, Tiana Metuarau, Emma May Murray-Fifita, Kimiora Poi, Mila Reuelu-Buchanan, Api Taufa, Renee Te Riini and Te Amo Amaru-Tibble.
