Titahi Bay Surf Life Saving Club members have been nominated for regional awards.
Keely Saunders (under-19 lifeguard) and Jeff Chapman (lifeguard) have been put forward for the 2016 Capital Coast Awards of Excellence, along with Marty McDowell (sportsperson of the year).
The successful Titahi Bay under23 women’s surf boat crew will be hard to beat in the sports team category.

Racing in the under-16 diamond race of the New Zealand Surf Life- Saving Championships, Alexandra stopped mid-race to help a fellow competitor who was crying and taking on water.
After a rescue crew pulled the girl out of the water, Ally went on to finish the race.
The awards night will be held this Saturday at the Plimmerton Boating Club. Winners from the clubs – stretching from Palmerston North to Riversdale, Levin to Lyall Bay – will go on to the national awards in September.
