Redwood School’s 50thbirthday
Registrations are being taken for Redwood School’s 50th reunion at the beginning of July.
The reunion takes place over July 1 and 2 and incorporates a tour of the school and meet and mingle (first day) and performances like kapa haka and other items on the second day.
Photos and memorabilia will be set up in the school hall for the event and there will be treeplanting and a celebratory cake included in the itinerary.
Principal Sue Goodin hoped more than 200 people would attend the reunion.
‘‘We’ve had responses already from people in New Plymouth and Auckland,’’ she said. ‘‘What we want to stress is that this is not something for just ex staff and pupils, but anyone who’s had involvement in the school over the years, especially parents.
‘‘Many helped out, on school crossings and in other areas, but may not have attended Redwood.’’
Pupils and staff were focused on the reunion now, through work in the curriculum this term, Goodin said.
One interesting thing she had noted was she is just the third principal the school has had in its 50 years.
‘‘That shows stability and loyalty and I’m sure that’s a topic that will be talked about a lot during the reunion.’’
Tickets to the reunion cost $60 and registration closes on June 20.
