Tawa-Lyndhurst scoop trophies
Tawa-Lyndhurst Tennis Club cleaned up at the Tennis Central awards on May 13.
The club, who beat Thorndon in a thrilling men’s interclub final in March, won the club of the year title and Marcel Glover, who lost just one singles match all club season, was given the premier 1 player of the year gong.
Tawa-Lyndhurst also won the Anthony Adams Cup for winning the before-Christmas round.
The club’s men’s captain, Francis Glover, said the culture in the team, with players training together and playing for each other, made the difference.
‘‘An awesome achievement for the club and hopefully we can do it all again next season,’’ he said.
The Kapi-Mana tennis team was awarded the representative trophy, after winning the competition involving Wellington, Hutt Valley, Wairarapa, Wanganui, Taranaki and Manawatu.
