Titahi Golf Club win interclub division
GOLF Titahi closed out the season showing rich form to come through the knockout finals unbeaten.
The Titahi Golf Club’s top senior team have been popping the champagne corks.
They came from the middle of the pack in the Wellington division 2 men’s interclub competition to win a dramatic end-ofseason final, beating top qualifiers Carterton 9-6.
The victory secured Titahi the Kau Kau Trophy and a place in the Championship 1 grade next season.
Titahi closed out the season showing rich form to come through the knockout finals unbeaten.
They successfully dispatched Trentham and then scored close wins over Mornington and Waikanae to up the away final to the highly regarded Wairarapa team.
The final was not decided until the final match.
After the first three groups of four-ball and individual matches, Titahi held a slim 5-4 lead, with great efforts by Matt Tuffery, Vaughan Ngatai and Daryl Bradford.
The win was confirmed by the Titahi final group pairings of Ngamanu Clay, Neil Tuffery jnr, Reishan Tamihana and Trey Shedlock.
Titahi 14-year old Trey Shedlock was chosen in the Wellington under-19 team.
