Ti­tahi Golf Club win in­ter­club divi­sion

GOLF Ti­tahi closed out the sea­son show­ing rich form to come through the knock­out fi­nals un­beaten.

The Ti­tahi Golf Club’s top se­nior team have been pop­ping the cham­pagne corks.

They came from the mid­dle of the pack in the Welling­ton divi­sion 2 men’s in­ter­club com­pe­ti­tion to win a dra­matic end-of­sea­son fi­nal, beat­ing top qual­i­fiers Carter­ton 9-6.

The vic­tory se­cured Ti­tahi the Kau Kau Tro­phy and a place in the Cham­pi­onship 1 grade next sea­son.

Ti­tahi closed out the sea­son show­ing rich form to come through the knock­out fi­nals un­beaten.

They suc­cess­fully dis­patched Tren­tham and then scored close wins over Morn­ing­ton and Waikanae to up the away fi­nal to the highly re­garded Wairarapa team.

The fi­nal was not de­cided un­til the fi­nal match.

Af­ter the first three groups of four-ball and in­di­vid­ual matches, Ti­tahi held a slim 5-4 lead, with great ef­forts by Matt Tuf­fery, Vaughan Ngatai and Daryl Brad­ford.

The win was con­firmed by the Ti­tahi fi­nal group pair­ings of Nga­manu Clay, Neil Tuf­fery jnr, Reis­han Tami­hana and Trey Shed­lock.

Ti­tahi 14-year old Trey Shed­lock was cho­sen in the Welling­ton un­der-19 team.
