Last month, Women’s Refuge and The Ware­house launched a shielded site where women in abu­sive re­la­tion­ships can seek help with­out the risk of their abuser find­ing it in their browser his­tory.

Us­ing tech­nol­ogy to con­trol a part­ner in an abu­sive re­la­tion­ship was some­thing Women’s Refuge was aware of, the ser­vice’s dig­i­tal me­dia man­ager Ruth Macin­tyre said.

‘‘The most dan­ger­ous time is when a woman is de­cid­ing to leave or im­me­di­ately af­ter and quite of­ten per­pe­tra­tors will no­tice some­thing is dif­fer­ent,’’ she said.
