Tawa takes second Jubilee Cup loss
Tawa have a lot of work to make the Jubilee Cup semi-finals after two losses to start Wellington club rugby’s premier competition.
An even battle with Poneke at Kilbirnie Park on Saturday was won 24-15 by the home side, after they were the better team in the final quarter.
It was 8-5 to Tawa at halftime, thanks to a Kemara HauitiParapara try and a Randall Bishop penalty. Hemi Fermanis scored in the second spell, but two Poneke tries gave them the lead, which they never relinquished.
The loss has Tawa bottom of the Jubilee Cup standings after two games.
In the Hardham Cup, Northern United thrashed Old BoysUniversity’s second team 59-0 and Paremata Plimmerton were wellbeaten 62-3 by Hutt Old Boys Marist.
In Central League football, Western Suburbs were beaten 3-2 by Miramar after conceding a goal in second half extra time. The loss drops them to fifth, six points adrift of leaders Napier City Rovers.
In Wellington premier rugby league, Randwick beat St George Dragons 44-20 at Cannons Creek Park.
In Kapi Mana premier netball, Norths 1 beat Aotea College 54-25, Te Tai Timu 1 thrashed their second team 83-29 and KBJ 1 won by default over Rockz 1.
