Monster book fair raises funds

-

St Pius X School recently held a Monster Book Fair and it wasn’t just the amount of books that gave the event its title. The whole school, including staff, children and some parents, dressed up as monsters. Prizes were awarded to the most creative costumes and the funniest and a lot of time and effort had obviously gone into all of the creations, principal Jane Reddish said. Tea, coffee and a muffin were provided to all while browsing the books on sale. The school sold $1600 worth of books which meant, once the cost of the event were covered, it was able to buy $480 worth of books for the school library. The book fair has become a yearly event for parents and grandparents to buy books for their children and grandchildren. The community support the fair and really get into the spirit of it, Reddish said. ‘‘Everyone enjoyed the parade of costumes.’’
