CBD de­sign feed­back sought

Porirua City Coun­cil are seek­ing public views on the de­signs for the city’s CBD.

The coun­cil are work­ing on de­signs to make the cen­tral city a live­lier and more ‘‘peo­ple-friendly space’’, a spokes­woman said.

Al­ready in place are new toi­lets and a food kiosk, while tem­po­rary land­scap­ing work has started on the for­mer i-SITE lo­ca­tion.

Fu­ture plans for this spot in­clude more land­scap­ing, an en­hanced con­nec­tion to Ferry Place and the rail­way sta­tion, a new chil­dren’s play and wet play ar­eas, plus some shad­ing from the sun. There will also be new paving, seat­ing and light­ing.

Sub­mis­sions close on Septem­ber 9. Work will start in the CBD early next year.
