Wests laud suc­cess­ful sea­son

Nando Pi­janker and the men’s Cap­i­tal Premier foot­ball side were the ma­jor win­ners at Western Sub­urbs’ prize­giv­ing on Au­gust 28.

Pi­janker had a stand­out sea­son with the club’s Cen­tral League team, while the Cap­i­tal Premier side came ag­o­nis­ingly close to win­ning their league. They fin­ished just two points shy of Wa­ter­side Karori as the two teams pulled away from the rest of the com­pe­ti­tion.

Jaga Scott-Green­field was ad­judged to be the team’s player of the year.

Other awards handed out on the night in­cluded Gaby Peach (player of the year for the Women’s Premier League side), Pete Elms (for the Masters 1 side), Greg Parish and Jenny Scott (male and fe­male Golden Boot win­ners for the club), and Cal­lum McCowatt and Owen Parker-Price (joint un­der-19 play­ers of the year).

The de­part­ing Jonty Bilder­beck was given the play­ers’ player award for Wests’ Cen­tral League team.

Women’s re­serves’ player of the year was Paige Henry.

Club per­son of the year was jointly awarded to stal­warts God­frey Bryce and Tony Vin­cent, while Ed Ooster­wijk was awarded the club’s ded­i­ca­tion of ser­vice prize.
