Kapi-Mana News - - FRONT PAGE - STAFF REPORTER

Titahi Bay’s second beach festival is shaping up to be a chilled out community event with headline act Ma Rie.

Held at the beach’s northern end on February 11, from 1pm till 8pm, it will include music, food, stalls, activities for all ages - like sack races and a sandcastle competition - the ‘Art on the Line’ art competition, community group displays and more.

Ma Rie, a Cannons Creek reggae singer of Samoan descent, has headlined for many artists including Spawnbreezie, Daniel Rae Costello and Savage. She performed at the Samoan Christmas in the Park in Apia last year.

Other performers at the festival include Quarter Acre Block and rapper Rory Aldridge – known together as Allgoods.

Events for the kids will include pony rides, old-fashioned games like tug-of-war, snorkelling with Healthy Harbours Porirua and planting with Titahi Bay Horticultural Society.

There will be community displays from Titahi Bay Volunteer Fire Brigade, Titahi Bay Taekwando Club and Kerry School of Irish Dancing.

Stalls will sell food, crafts and services such as hair-braiding and Jamberry Nails.

An art competition will invite entrants to paint, sketch, photograph or weave.
