Last year I was be­set with in­juries that kept me on the couch and away from one of my favourite pas­times - play­ing sport.

To get back into it this year, I de­cided to en­ter Round the Bays.

Along with many oth­ers from around the re­gion, I have been pound­ing the pave­ment in prepa­ra­tion for the big day, which is now only five days away.

In the lead up to the event Rachel Grun­well has been writ­ing about the dos and don’ts of race prepa­ra­tion, fam­ily ex­er­cise and the im­por­tance of stretch­ing.

In this week’s col­umn she takes a look at how to be pre­pared for race day and make sure all goes well.
