Titahi Bay artist on show at Kapiti Coast gallery
Freelance artist Daniel Reeve will be showing off his talent in Kapiti for the next four weeks.
The Titahi Bay artist is exhibitioning at the Kapiti Arts and Crafts Society’s Kapiti Gallery.
His career has followed several paths, including fine art, commercial art, calligraphy, maps, movie props, typography, graphic design and private commissions.
He is known for the calligraphy and cartography in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films but has also worked on other films plus their associated merchandise.
Illustration, lettering and design for advertising and other commercial ventures round out Reeve’s busy schedule.
His paintings are represented in private collections and in New Zealand’s Parliament and in the offices of the Waitangi Tribunal.
He has also been involved in creating replicas of The Treaty of Waitangi, now on permanent display in Te Papa, and replicas of the Malone documents for the Great War Exhibition.
He has taught several painting and calligraphy workshops and has tutored drawing, sketching and painting tours of New Zealand.
His exhibition at the Kapiti Gallery closes on March 19.
He will be at the gallery on February 25 from 2pm, answering questions and demonstrating calligraphy.
Kapiti Gallery is at 192 Matai Road, Raumati Beach, open Wednesday to Sunday.
