Four de­li­cious, sim­ple smooth­ies

Smooth­ies are a great way to start the day as well as up your fruit and vege in­take. They’ll also give you a good boost of vi­ta­mins and minerals in some­thing that’s easy to drink.

BA­NANA, DATE AND NUT SMOOTHIE

2 ba­nanas (pre-frozen) 6-8 med­jool dates, stones re­moved and roughly chopped

cup al­monds, roughly chopped A good pinch ground cin­na­mon 2 cups milk (cow’s, al­mond, or soy) Tip: if you don’t have frozen ba­nanas, use fresh ba­nanas and a small hand­ful of ice cubes.

Place all in­gre­di­ents in a blen­der or food pro­ces­sor and blend un­til smooth.

To serve, pour into glasses.

BLUE­BERRY AND KIWI SMOOTHIE

cup blue­ber­ries 1 ki­wifruit, peeled 1 cup co­conut wa­ter 2-3 mint leaves (op­tional)

cup ice cubes, plus ex­tra to serve Place all in­gre­di­ents in a blen­der or food pro­ces­sor and blend un­til smooth.

To serve, pour into glasses and top with ex­tra ice cubes.

STRAW­BERRY AND BA­NANA SMOOTHIE

1 ba­nana (pre-frozen) 5 medium-sized straw­ber­ries

tea­spoon vanilla essence or ex­tract cup nat­u­ral yo­ghurt cup milk (cow’s, al­mond, or soy) 1 ta­ble­spoon ground LSA 1 tea­spoon runny honey (op­tional) Tip: if you don’t have frozen ba­nanas, use fresh ba­nanas and a small hand­ful of ice cubes.

Place all in­gre­di­ents in a blen­der or food pro­ces­sor and blend un­til smooth. To serve, pour into glasses.

MANGO AND AL­MOND SMOOTHIE

1 ripe mango, peeled, flesh roughly chopped 1 cup milk (cow’s, al­mond, or soy) cup nat­u­ral yo­ghurt 1 ta­ble­spoon ground al­mond ta­ble­spoon honey cup ice cubes Com­bine mango, milk, yo­ghurt, ground al­mond, honey and ice cubes in a blen­der and pulse un­til smooth. To serve, pour into glasses and top with ex­tra ice cubes.
