To whoever took Steven Heller’s army medals from his home in Aotea.

You probably knew taking his things would cause him some pain.

But for the first time in more than 50 years, he was too devastated to attend an Anzac Day ceremony.

That was a tradition he started with his grandfather when he was just a boy younger than you.

Those medals and that blazer would have looked fancy; something you could sell to buy things you want.

But now you are stuck. Stuck with things that are probably harder to sell and not worth as much money as you thought.

But the damage you’ve done has turned out to be far bigger.

So here is a special chance to fix your mistake. Take the medals to the police station or leave them anonymously at the Kapi-Mana News office.

It will go a long way to making things right.
