To the person who returned Steven Heller’s medals to his home in Aotea.

You have bravely righted a wrong, when you could have done the cowardly thing and dumped them.

I can tell you Steven is over the moon with relief at having them back.

I’m sure it was a bit of a worry for you, sneaking back in the night to quickly leave the medals in a plastic bag at his door.

You would have been scared of getting caught. Scared of the consequences.

Steven messaged me first thing in the morning, after the couple were left wondering why their cat was having trouble getting out the car door.

You did the right thing. Stealing them was bad to begin with, but to learn from that and make it right took guts. So well done. - Senior Reporter Jared Nicoll
