WANTED: A Porirua grandfather and former mechanic who rescued a couple of Aucklanders whose car broke down between Taupo and Rotorua in February.

The friendly couple, now from Nelson, who had a dodgy Daewoo station wagon are eager to thank him.

And so are we. This good sort has inspired a new series of articles highlighting those who do a lot of good but often go unmentioned. We’re calling it Our People. We have ideas already, but what we are really after is recommendations from you about anyone you think deserves a mention.

It could be someone you know who does something kind, something thoughtful, anything for the sake of helping someone else.

We will follow it up and, if they’re keen, work on an article for Our People that might inspire another to be just like that Porirua grandfather.
