Any city’s greatest asset is its children.
Porirua is particularly blessed with youth as about 40 per cent of its population is under 25.
The council’s Children and Young People’s Fund, starting next year, will simplify the process for young people to apply for $500 worth of funding toward initiatives that will better themselves.
That $500 investment can pay dividends not only for the young people, but the city too will benefit from their development.
A little bit of faith in young people can go a long way.
The council will decide who qualifies or not, and that decision could go a long way to helping children enjoy opportunities they would otherwise miss out on.
The Ministry of Social Development is there to support families in need with the bare basics of living.
Think bigger. For the young people. And for the city.
