MPs say cheese

O¯ taki MP Nathan Guy en­joyed host­ing Na­tional’s eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment spokesman Paul Gold­smith for lo­cal busi­ness.

Vis­it­ing Fon­terra’s cheese fac­tory in Te Roto Drive in Para­pa­raumu was a high­light where they got to un­der­stand the cheese-mak­ing process and turned some cheese.

The Fon­terra fac­tory em­ploys 60 peo­ple where they pro­duce three well known cheese brands — Kapiti, Main­land Spe­cial Re­serve and Gal­axy.

The re­tail shop opened in 2015 and is prov­ing very pop­u­lar with cus­tomers sourc­ing lo­cally made cheese.

The MPs also vis­ited Tu­atara, Wood­haven Gar­dens, Horowhenua Dis­trict Coun­cil, Horowhenua Chron­i­cle and Beach FM.

Mr Gold­smith flew Air Chathams into Kapiti Coast Air­port and was im­pressed with the new ser­vice through to Auck­land.
