Tour­na­ment helps Life Flight

Last month the Waikanae Bridge Club held a char­ity tour­na­ment in sup­port of Life Flight Trust at their clu­b­rooms rais­ing over $1800.

With ma­jor spon­sor Charles Flem­ing Re­tire­ment Vil­lage, the club was also gen­er­ously sup­ported by lo­cal busi­nesses and mem­bers who do­nated a va­ri­ety of prod­ucts and vouch­ers.

From meat packs and toi­letries to wine and meal vouch­ers, there was a to­tal of 18 raf­fle prizes.

The tour­na­ment was well sup­ported with play­ers from around the re­gion in­clud­ing Welling­ton, Vic­to­ria, O¯ taki, Kapi-Mana and Para­pa­raumu Bridge clubs with Waikanae mem­bers pro­vid­ing af­ter­noon tea.

Through­out the af­ter­noon of bridge, Waikanae club di­rec­tor Alice Steven­son awarded spot prizes for things such as win­ning a trick with a two, first pair to make four hearts or the last ta­ble to fin­ish a round.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to win­ners Elva Brown and Chris Far­row and se­cond placeget­ters Gattsche and Judy Plimmer.

When re­ceiv­ing the cheque, Se­bas­tian Grodd from Life Flight Trust com­mented on how Ka¯ piti was a strong and gen­er­ous sup­porter of the or­gan­i­sa­tion and how grate­ful they were of the sup­port.
