Opera opportunity as new show arrives
Time flies when you’re creating opera.
Southward Theatre in Kapiti will host seven of Operatunity’s favourite stars as it celebrates its fifteenth anniversary.
The anniversary gala on December 13 from 11am would feature a variety of musical styles from their past 15 years, including musical theatre, proms, comic songs, and sentimental ballads,
Founder and owner Susan Boland said the concert would feature ‘‘the best of the best, showcasing all the different styles of music we have presented over the years, plus a few surprises’’.
Boland would be joined by co-founder John Cameron, Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua, Karl Perigo, Lynette Martin, Scot Hall, and pianist Paul Carnegie-Jones.
The Kapiti concert would be one of 26 gala concerts throughout New Zealand, as part of the Daytime Concert Series.
‘‘It’s hard to believe that from nine in our first audience we now sing to thousands of people throughout New Zealand each month,’’ Boland said.
Operatunity employs 15 full time staff and more than 30 artists on contract each year, all without any government funding or other sponsorship.
The Kapiti Observer is giving away two tickets to the concert, to enter the draw email firstname.lastname@example.org by midday December 12.
