Kapiti Observer - - FRONT PAGE -

Halloween will be celebrated on October 31, this Tuesday. People tend to either think it’s a bit of fun, or a complete waste of money.

We put up a poll on Neighbourly to see what our readers thought and received an astounding 400 responses. And there was was a pretty even split.

Halloween is particularly popular in the US, ‘‘part of our culture’’ as one ex-American said. She and her family had lived in New Zealand for five years and ‘‘have seen the holiday grow more and more’’.

Another person felt it was wrong to reward children with lollies and another person simply hated it.

‘‘I am not normally a grinch - love a party - but I simply dislike Halloween.’’

Whatever you feel about Halloween, this Tuesday please keep a watchful eye out as hundreds of children take to our streets.
