Personal development upside of joining Lions
Whydid David Eddy becomea Lion five decades ago?
At the first (formation) meeting David says he had no idea what Lions was— apart from being a rugby team and a beer brand.
“I went along withsomeofmy mates, liked the concept and the guys were all keen. Wewere about the same age group with families also of similar age, so good socially.”
Hesays they were able to respond to or initiate thingswithin the community without having to go through all the red tape.
“We got things done. The idea of providing service, helping, and having fun at the same timewas awinner.”
David says Lions also provided him the opportunity for personal development and to develop leadership roles.
“Wewere able to achievemany things working together as a team, for the community, which as an individual would not have been possible.”
