Treats in store for late-night shoppers

SomeKatikati retailers will be staying open until8pmnext Thursday, December 10, for a bit of late night shopping for Christmas. They will be offering specials, discounts, spot prizes, drinks and nibbles and Christmas cheer.

Katch Katikati was thrilled to be approached by CarolMasonfrom Arty Tarts store for their assistance to speak to other retailers and see if therewas any interest to take part in a late-night shopping experience within the community.

Carol said they were discussing 2020 at one of their meetings, and one of their members, Rosalyn Phipps, suggested a late shopping night.

“Wethought it would be a good wayto thank our loyal, local customers for their support, especially since lockdown lifted.

“Weare so grateful for themany peoplewhocomein and say they want to support our town, rather than driving to Tauranga.”

Carol said it is gratifying toknow that customers would rather buy locallymadegoods, rather than imports.

“Our idea wasa funnight to give back to them.

“At Arty Tartswewill have spot prize giveaways, andwehave already collected somelovely pieces from our members, free nibbles and adiscount on our Lothlorian possum merino range.”

Carol said it is great that Kylie Watkins from Katch Katikati tookup the idea and approached other businesses.

“People can wander around the streets and have a funnight out.”

Kylie said the offerings on the night differ between retailerswhowill be open.

They include drinks and nibbles, discounts, talks around products and generally spreading Christmas cheer.

“Weare all about supporting local retailers and find this a great opportunity for thosewhoare unable tocomeinto town during normal opening hours.”

Retail stores that will open for late night shopping next Thursday include Arty Tarts, Infinite Beauty, Health by Nature, Dreamers Beauty Clinic, Dominion and Co, Limited Edition on Main and BeeNZ at 85 Tetley Rd.
