The Upcycle Christmas Tree competitio­n has attracted seven entries withmoreto come— most aremadefro­m a variety of recycled interestin­g items. “There seems to be a real community spiritwhen it comes to being crafty,” says competitio­n organiser Kylie Watkins, whois excited to facilitate the event again this year.

“To be able to see everyone’s enthusiasm to enter givesmea real sense of pride to be able to bring this to the community.”

Whentalkin­g to the community Kylie found groupswhow­anted to enter, only met once aweek and even though therewasen­joyment around creating and crafting together, they needed a little moretime.

This iswhythe entry datewas extended by a week.

There are two categories with prizes upfor grabs — People’s Choice and a Judged section. Both are offering a $100 prize.

Voting in the people’s choice category starts Saturday, December 5 until4pmon Sunday, December 20.

People cancomeint­o the Arts Junction to view the creative Christmas trees, pickup a voting slip and put it in the voting box at the Arts Junction.

Judges this year are Open-Air Art president Steve Graveson and Western Bay councillor James Denyer.
