Absurd
I foundFerry de Graaf’s letter in the last Advertiser so breathtakingly absurd that I presumed it wasa joke, intended to engender a response.
The highway between Katikati and Tauranga has such a bad crash record that, despite the ameliorating improvements currently underway, accidents will still occur. The single most effective addition that could be undertaken is adrop in the speed limit. Not only that, it can be achieved very cheaply. The fact that a newHilux can do 200km/hseems irrelevant to the extreme. Iwouldn’t want to meet one onSH2stretching it’s legs. There is a place for everything.
Of course it’s thedriver at fault in almost every instance. Butwecan’t domuchmore about that.
Whatwecan do is mandate amaximumspeed in thehope that drivers will do less damageto themselves and otherswhentheir concentration lapses. IANGERRARD
