Go for Gold!
When the Kowhai trees
drip with golden flowers we know it’s spring. Did you know our Kowhai is New Zealand’s national flower? The sweet nectar inside a Kowhai flower is a favourite food for tui and other native birds. After flowering, seed pods dangle from the branches and inside each pod are yellow seeds. If you plant a seed this summer it will grow into a tree that might one day be taller than you.
