Have a close look at the plants in your gar­den. If you have a house­plant, look and see if it’s bend­ing to­wards the win­dow. Sci­en­tists have a spe­cial word for this.

PHOTOTROPISM!

It’s called Photo means ‘light’ and tropism means ‘turn­ing’. When plants bend their stems and leaves to­wards light, it is called

POS­I­TIVE PHOTOTROPISM.

When plant roots grow down and away from the light it is called

NEG­A­TIVE PHOTOTROPISM.
